Consultation on the proposal to permanently relocate Plockton Primary School to the Plockton High School campus

Highland Council is carrying out a statutory consultation on a proposal to permanently relocate Plockton Primary School to the Plockton High School campus.

On the 3rd June 2026, the Highland Council Education Committee agreed to consult on a proposal for the permanent relocation of Plockton Primary School to the Plockton High School campus.

Before any final decision can be taken, a formal consultation is required in accordance with the Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010.

Consultation

The purpose of this formal consultation is to gather the views of those who would be affected by the relocation of Plockton Primary School to the Plockton High School campus.

The consultation will run from:

Wednesday 19th August 2026 until Friday 9th October 2026

All comments received during the consultation period will be presented to the Highland Council’s Education Committee for consideration.

Public Meetings

A public meeting was held on Wednesday 26th August at Plockton High School to discuss the implications of this proposal.

An additional public meeting is scheduled for Monday 28th September 2026 at Plockton High School from 6.30pm to 8pm.

The meeting will be structured around four key themes that have emerged during the consultation process:

• Consultation Process and Governance
• Current School Experience
• Educational Benefits
• Educational Estate Information for Plockton

To support informed discussion, Council officers and representatives from Education and Learning will provide information relating to each theme and will respond to questions from attendees. The meeting will offer stakeholders a further opportunity to raise matters relevant to the proposal and ensure that their views are fully considered as part of the consultation process.
