Greenspace Biodiversity Management Strategy 2026-2030 - Public Consultation
The purpose of this consultation is to seek views on Highland Council's draft Greenspace Biodiversity Management Strategy 2026-2030, and the Council's proposed approach for managing greenspaces for biodiversity enhancement. You can respond by reading the attached Greenspace Biodiversity Management Strategy 2026-2030 below and answering the questionnaire at the bottom of the page during the 6-week period from 24/08/2026 - 04/10/2026.
The draft Greenspace Biodiversity Management Strategy 2026-2030 is being developed by Highland Council in response to the ecological and climate emergencies, and seeks to ensure that the Council have a framework and practical guidance in place to consistently identify and deliver biodiversity enhancement across its estate.
The Strategy has been developed in collaboration with key operational teams and has received input from a wide range of Council services and elected Members. We are now seeking input from Highland's residents, visitors, groups and organisations, and will use the responses from this consultation to form the final draft Strategy before seeking formal adoption.
This consultation is about the Council-wide strategic approach. It will not determine detailed changes to individual parks, verges or burial grounds. There will be further opportunities for communities to help shape site-specific management plans for their local greenspaces.
