About this platform

This engagement platform is an initiative of The Highland Council and can be used for all kinds of participation processes: collecting ideas, voting, discussion, surveys, polls, public studies, online mapping, scenario planning etc. Use of this platform saves time and money by offering an alternative to in-person meetings which may not be in a convenient location or at a suitable time. However, other forms of engagement will also be used.

On the homepage you can see which processes are active or in which phase a process is.

How should I respond effectively?

Public consultation is a process whereby democratic values are exercised and reflects values and freedoms enjoyed by all. Consultation is not a vote and the outcome is typically advisory.

It is in the interest of residents and stakeholders to safeguard the process from external influence and prevent the dilution of genuine views.

Consultees need to think for themselves and should reflect carefully on how they have been informed on the facts of the consultation in anticipation of providing their views. Consultees should read consultation information critically for bias and take into account the motives of any external influencers.

Think about the wider benefits of any proposals, how they might contribute to our shared sustainable goals and future generations – not just about the individual impacts which might be immediately objectionable.

How do I log in to the platform?

Registering is easy. You just need to fill in your first name, surname and e-mail address. You can also use your Google or Facebook account to register. Only your surname and first name are visible to others.
